Hello, friends! Thank you for stopping by.
Kiera Rose Collection began with a passion for history, photography, and crafting. Several years back, my daughter and I attended a rag quilting workshop led by Gullah educator and culture preservationist, Sharon Cooper-Murray, or as we Charlestonians affectionately call her, “The Gullah Lady”. Here's a great article by Charleston Magazine regarding her efforts to preserve the Gullah culture in the Lowcountry.
Tying in Tradition | Charleston SC | Charleston Magazine
A couple of years ago, I decided to make rag quilt pillows to gift family and friends for Christmas. A bit rusty getting back into it at first, and my first few were absolutely horrible! However, I found it very therapeutic and continued to create, improving with each creation. Eventually, I began running out of storage space and took the advice of a friend to share them with all of you!
With the pillows being quite pricey, I wanted to offer products that are a bit more budget friendly. Charleston speaks to my soul in ways I cannot describe, and I love walking around capturing her beauty. So, I decided to venture into sublimation printing using my photography. However, all sublimation products can be customized using your favorite photo(s). What keepsake can we create for you? Please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I'd love to hear from you!! ~Michele
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
A 6% (South Carolina) sales tax fee will be added to each product during checkout.
HOWEVER, as an introductory special, we are offering free shipping on all orders until further notice.
To honor the history of the Gullah people and this ingenious craft, all pillows are assembled and sewn by hand, from start to finish. These pillows do differ from the traditional technique: each row is sewn together to secure the strips of material rather than knotting each individual strip. We do plan to offer traditional knotted rag quilt pillows eventually.
Pillows are made from random scraps of material most often purchased at thrift stores. All fabrics are laundered in hot water prior to being used. To preserve the product and protect your washer/dryer, please launder pillows in a mesh bag or pillowcase, as they will shed as they fray.
ALLERGY NOTICE: All items are created in a pet friendly home (1 dog and 1 cat)
